Rudra Abishekam and Chandi Homam is a Vedic ritual organized by Sambodh Center for Human Excellence as envisioned by His Holiness Swami Bodhananda. The power of rituals which use a combination of mantra, tantra and yantra are far greater in organizing the forces of nature in supplicant's favor than mere prayer which is often said without much faith or concentration. The Vedas prescribe many rituals for fulfillment of legitimate human desires: for worthy children, happy family life, health, wealth, recognition, professional success, as well as for peace of mind here and hereafter.

Sambodh Society and SCHE organize, every year in the first weekend of August, a rare Vedic ritual of propitiating Shiva and Shakti, and other aspects of God, to fulfill our individual and collective desires. Unique for both Hindu and non-Hindu Americans, these rituals take us back to ancient Vedic times and give us the opportunity to experience authentic Vedic culture and religion. This annual ritual provides a rare opportunity to worship Shiva and Shakti in a forest ambience, the largest Shiva Lingam and Shakti Pitham in the whole of America.

Pujya Swamiji gives this message on the Maha Rudra Abhishekam:
"Blessed Self,
The most auspicious Vedic Rituals Rudrabhishekam and Chandi Homam that have been an annual feature of Sambodh Center for the last several years fall in the early part of August this year. This ritual is traditionally performed for world peace, unity and spiritual upliftment. Such rituals become more and more important at a time when the world is going through unprecedented levels of violence, disruption and despair. These rituals will also confer prosperity, health, success in business and harmony in marital relationships upon the devotee. I ardently pray and request you to participate in this holy ritual by sponsoring the listed pujas and homas and encouraging others to do the same. You and your children need the calming effects brought by the serene vibrations of authentic Vedic rituals and chanting. What works for you will indeed work for your friends and their children, too. Having done your best to accomplish your dreams, don't just sit and worry about the outcome, but use the rest of your time for invoking the Lord whose grace and benediction alone can make our works fruitful and life blissful. The Bhagavad Gita says that invoking the “gods (cosmic energies), empowered through the practice of rituals, will in turn nourish and empower the devotee and fulfill all his/her wishes".

SAMBODH EMBLEM

The logo of Sambodh is constituted by three arcs and three birds: two trapped within and one flying out. The motto of the logo reads uttishtata jagrata nibhodata - arise awake and realise. The three arcs represent three bodies - gross, subtle and causal, identifying with which the infinite consciousness has become finite.

The finite consciousness is represented by the two birds trapped in samsara, the world of change, and struggling to come out. The trapped birds are a symbol of all kinds of duality: the seeker and the sought, the god and the world, body and soul, good and bad, matter and spirit. The bird flying out into the infinite space of consciousness stands for the enlightened and integrated person who has solved all kind of duality, and who has disidentified with the three bodies as well as the three gunas such as the sattva, rajas and tamas. The motto of the logo uttishtata jagarata nibhodata is taken from the Katopanishad. The exhortation is to awake from material slumber through a process of inquiry and discrimination.
